Still Life Drawing Three with Kean University Students

These charcoal drawings on mostly 22 x 30 " printmaking papers come from my Drawing One Class this Fall Semester at Kean University. Students drew several objects: food items, cotton, plastic spoons and cups, and paper plates. The aim was to create a variety of textures within a well composed space using one-point or two-point composition.

Drawings 6 and 7: Kean University Drawing Students

Drawings 6 and 7 in this class were both still-life. Drawing 6 was a "reverse" charcoal drawing putting down the charcoal first then removing it with a kneaded eraser (and other erasers) to depict the forms. Drawing 7 was a fruit and vegetable drawing.

Drawing 5 was our first still life of objects on the stage.

Drawing 6: Kean University Students

Drawing Number 6 for this class was a still life started on an all black charcoal background:  a "reverse" still life. See the images below. The final still life drawing will be a simple drawing of fruit and vegetables that I brought to class last week. Prof S.
